La Clef des Champs

The Dordogne is divided in to four regions : Purple Périgord (Bergerac), the Black Périgord (Sarlat), the White Périgord (Périgueux) and the Green Périgord (Nontron), each which should be visited.

 

Caves (Grottes) like the Grand Roc (Eysies), Maxange (Buisson de Cussac), Lascaux (Montignac), or the pit of Proumeyssac the Bournat museum and the aquarium in Bugue a must for young and old !

 

You can also discover and visit castles such as Monbazillac, Lanquais, Biron, Beynac, Castelnaud (Museum of the Middle Ages), Milandes (castle of Josephine Baker) Country houses of Monpazier, Eymet, Issigeac, and many others.

 

A long the way, you can visit the wine route, you will be spoiled for choice for taste and choose the one or ones that will delight your meals: Monbazillac, Pécharmant, Côtes de Bergerac, Rosette, St Emilion, etc...

But also: the Tuilières between Mouleydier and Lalinde is on the towpath which borders the Dordogne.

You can walk or bike you get from one side of the Dordogne to the start of the channel to Mauzac (15km) and the other to Creysse (5km).

Do not forget to visit the fish ladder and eel passes unique in Europe Tuilières installed around the dam. You take the opportunity to admire the staircase of locks where six locks are connected, one of the most beautiful in France.

 

The visits of Bergerac, Sarlat, Périgueux and its museums, as well as Brantôme and the many picturesque villages will be a delight for the most curious.

 

For golf lovers you can exercise your talents in golf Bergerac, Château des Merles or Vigiers.

The region has many farmers markets but also night markets, where you can sample the local products .
