The Dordogne is divided in to four regions : Purple Périgord (Bergerac), the Black Périgord (Sarlat), the White Périgord (Périgueux) and the Green Périgord (Nontron), each which should be visited.

A long the way, you can visit the wine route, you will be spoiled for choice for taste and choose the one or ones that will delight your meals: Monbazillac, Pécharmant, Côtes de Bergerac, Rosette, St Emilion, etc...
But also: the Tuilières between Mouleydier and Lalinde is on the towpath which borders the Dordogne.
You can walk or bike you get from one side of the Dordogne to the start of the channel to Mauzac (15km) and the other to Creysse (5km).
Do not forget to visit the fish ladder and eel passes unique in Europe Tuilières installed around the dam. You take the opportunity to admire the staircase of locks where six locks are connected, one of the most beautiful in France.
